STACKFOR

STACKFOR

StackFor building a phone or voice agent

Latency is part of the job. A beautiful narrator that answers a second late is the wrong pick for this role.

A voice that can hold a phone call: a voice platform, a speaking voice, speech-to-text, a model, a phone number, and a way to log the result.

STACK SCORE

85

Mean of the role winners, compatibility +3. Separate from each tool score.

Provisional seed scores. Method seed-v0-provisional, confidence low, not hands-on tested. The band around a number is a ±8 display label, not a measured interval. Ordering uses the point estimate.

We may earn a commission if a tracking link is connected and you buy through it. It never changes ranks. In this v1 seed, tracking URLs are empty, so “Open site” goes to the vendor. Sponsorship rules.

Recommended stack

Platform, voice, transcription, model, phone number, and a log. Built for a call, not for a YouTube voiceover.

Example compatibility note, not a measured integration test. Vapi and Retell both expect you to bring STT, TTS, and a model.

Questions

Why isn't ElevenLabs the whole stack?

ElevenLabs is a voice. A phone agent also needs something to place the call, something to listen, a model, and a log. Those are separate roles.

Do open-source options get a bonus for being open source?

No bonus for the license. Pricing and ease are already criteria. Pipecat and LiveKit win or lose on those subscores like everything else.
